My Journey of Faith
My name is Pastor Josphat Thuku, and I have been privileged to walk a path that has been marked by faith, purpose, and a deep commitment to serving the Lord Jesus Christ. My story is not just a chronicle of personal achievements, but a testimony of God's faithfulness and grace, and a reflection of the call He has placed on my life. This journey of faith began in my youth and has been lived out in various capacities as I have sought to fulfill the mission that has become my life’s purpose: to make Christ known and to make all people fall in love with Him.
Early Life and Call to Ministry
I was born and raised in a loving, God-fearing family, where faith in Jesus Christ was central to our daily lives. From an early age, I was exposed to the teachings of the Bible and felt a deep calling to follow Christ. It wasn’t just a passing thought; it was a compelling desire to serve the Lord that grew stronger over time.
As a young person, I felt God tugging at my heart, calling me into ministry. I didn’t fully understand the scope of this calling at first, but I was drawn to help others, to encourage, to pray, and to share the gospel. This became my passion, and I knew that I was meant to be more than just a witness of Christ—God was calling me to actively participate in His work.
Education and Growth
My journey toward a deeper understanding of the Word of God led me to pursue theological education. I was blessed to attend Fuller Theological Seminary, where I earned my Master of Divinity degree. My time at Fuller was transformative, both intellectually and spiritually. It deepened my understanding of Scripture, enriched my faith, and prepared me to lead others in their walk with God.
The seminary experience not only gave me academic knowledge, but it also shaped my pastoral heart. I was surrounded by professors, fellow students, and mentors who challenged me to think deeply about God’s Word and the application of that Word in real-life ministry. It was at Fuller that I began to understand the global nature of the church, and how God’s mission was bigger than just my own community.
Answering the Call to Ministry
After completing my education, I returned to serve in various pastoral capacities. Whether it was leading worship, teaching, counseling, or preaching, my heart has always been focused on making Christ known to others. There have been many opportunities to serve in different roles, but each has been a stepping stone to fulfilling the mission I feel called to: sharing the gospel and helping people grow in their love for Christ.
Through each opportunity, God has revealed more of His plan for me and for His people. I have witnessed His transformative power in individuals’ lives and have been humbled by the privilege of walking alongside people on their spiritual journeys. Whether in large congregations or small, intimate gatherings, the heart of my ministry has always been to bring people to the feet of Jesus and to help them develop a personal relationship with Him.
A Life of Service and Partnership
Alongside this calling, I have been blessed with an incredible partner in ministry—my dear wife, Jane. Jane and I have been married for many years, and we both share a deep passion for seeing the world come to know Christ. Our marriage has been one of mutual support, as we both serve the Lord together, each using our unique gifts to further His Kingdom. We are committed not only to one another, but also to the mission God has entrusted to us.
Together, we have sought to live out our mission in a practical way—by investing in the lives of others, nurturing the next generation of believers, and always striving to point people toward Jesus. The strength of our partnership has been a constant source of encouragement, and we are both deeply grateful for the ways in which God has worked through us.
Our Mission: Making Christ Known
Our mission is simple yet profound: to make Christ known by all people, and to make all people fall in love with Jesus Christ. This mission shapes everything we do, from our personal lives to our ministry work. Every sermon we preach, every prayer we offer, and every act of service we undertake is done with the aim of making Jesus known and inviting others to experience His love in a real and transformative way.
We believe that the love of Christ is the most powerful force in the world, and that as people come to know Jesus personally, their lives will be radically changed. Our mission is not only about sharing the gospel but also about helping people grow in their relationship with Christ. We want others to experience the joy, peace, and hope that come from being in a relationship with the Savior.
"The love of Christ is the most powerful force in the world."
Reflections and Hopes for the Future
As I reflect on my journey, I am deeply humbled by the many ways God has used me to impact the lives of others. From my early days in ministry to where I am now, I have seen God’s hand at work in every step of my life. There have been challenges, yes, but they have only served to deepen my faith and dependence on Him.
Looking ahead, I remain committed to the work God has called me to. My heart is filled with hope for the future, knowing that as long as there is breath in my lungs, there is more to be done. Whether in preaching, teaching, counseling, or just living out my faith in everyday life, I am eager to continue fulfilling the call to make Christ known.
In closing, I am thankful for the grace that has carried me through this journey. My prayer is that the work God has begun in me will continue to bear fruit for His Kingdom and that others will see the love of Christ in me and be drawn closer to Him. It is all for His glory, and I am humbled to be part of His eternal plan.
